Hiking @ Tiger Mountain

We got up bright and early and braved the winter elements to go hiking at Tiger Mountain as planned. It was only the next exit from our place off the I-90 freeway. It was really cold and was raining pretty hard when we started our hike. Once in the woods, we got shelter from the trees. We struggled to make it up the mountain to the viewpoint but we had to turn around halfway. The trail was full of ice and we were starting to skid and slip. Getting down the trail was tricky. A few of us decided to trek down sideways! Though we didn't make it all the way up, it was still a good hour and a half of exercise so we decided to treat ourselves to brunch :) Better luck next time!

Dinner @ Maneki

After a hard week's work, a group of us decided to go to Maneki for dinner on Friday night. Opened in 1923, Maneki is the oldest and probably most famous Japanese restaurant in Seattle. I was super excited as Will and I have never been to Maneki. Thanks to our friends who are semi regulars, we had the most yummy and varied dishes - sweet shrimp sushi, raw scallops, sea urchins, avocado salad, grilled cod, grilled mackerel, spider rolls, fried shrimp heads, rice boiled in beer(!) topped with eel, 2 different kinds of cold sake and plum wine to start with. Maneki is now my fav Jap restaurant in town!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Jan 11th is Daddy Teo's 55th birthday. Every time I mention my daddy's age, everyone is in amazement at how young he is. We are glad he is young enough to enjoy his early retirement to the fullest and old enough to impart wisdom along the way!

Happy Birthday Daddy. We love you!

Here are some of our favorite photos from the recent years that showcase his *fuN loVing* personality!

Coal Creek Falls

Our 2008 resolutions include one new hike and one new book a month. So this past weekend, Will and I went on our first hike to Coal Creek Falls. It was supposed to be rainy all day and thus there weren't many or ANYbody on the trail. During most of our hike, we were just by ourselves and very wary of stumbling upon a bear. I think we'll bring 6 friends with us next time.

We made cookies to go with our homemade sandwiches. I made Will stand outside to cool those babies quick. Look at his sad little face. Haha!

Caught on camera!

It didn't rain at all during our hike. We even had some sunshine!

The waterfall was smaller than we imagined but it was still very pretty.

It was a 2.5 miles round trip hike and very accessible - only 10 min from the freeway.
