Renzo's refusal

Having worked for years on Broadway and TV, this is Renzo Haruyama's big debut on the big screen. Playing himself in a classic melodramtic struggle between freedom and oppression, Renzo is unwilling to compromise on the comforts of home. Sensing a night of restlessness and unfamiliar pooping grounds, Renzo refuses to obey his owner (played by up-and-coming actress Antje Frychel) who tries to get him into a friend's vehicle, taking him far away from home. As seen in the below clip, the struggle between dog and owner is palpable. It is the defining moment in the movie where love and fear collide. A soon-to-be classic, Renzo's refusal is highly recommended and Oscar material.

Rice Krispies Treats

Antje and I made rice krispies treats one evening when she was over.  It was my first time trying it and it was fun and yummy, quick and easy.  Now that's one treat I can make!

Sunday with Jim & Kelly

That Sunday, we had brunch with Jim & Kelly then went on an argosy cruise to the Ballard Locks.  It was supposed to be sunny but turned out to be quite chilly.  It was still a really nice way to spend the afternoon...with Jim & Kelly....out on the beautiful waters...

Franklin Falls

We made it this time!  It was a short and easy hike, about 2 miles round trip.  Perfect for our group and just in time for dinner!

Breakfast at The Maltby Cafe

This was a couple of months ago when we were really into checking out all the brunch spots in the 30 mile radius.  The Maltby Cafe is located in the quaint little town of Maltby, Washington, about 30 minutes east of Seattle.  The food was good, the atmosphere pleasant.  We are checking this one off as a "will-be-back".

Sashimiiii

A couple of Friday evenings ago, Mantje and us had our fill of sashimi at Shun by University Village.  As usual, our eyeballs were larger than our appetites and we ordered way more than we can stomach.  It was really really good sashimi but I think we had enough of it for a while.
