Yang clan visit – Boehms Candies Tour

Our vacation started with a visit to the Boehms Candy store and their guided factory tour. The tour was about 45 minutes long and we got to learn about candy production, the history of the store and the most amazing life story of its founder, Mr. Julius Boehms.  Mr. Boehms, born in Vienna, Austria was 44 years of age when he fled from Hitler’s tyranny and ended up in the Pacific Northwest in 1941.  I was struck by Mr. Boehms’ passion and courage for a different life and a whole new career in a foreign land.  He even conquered 14,410 ft to the peak of Mt Rainier 3 times, the last time when he was at the youthful age of 80!  _DSC6752 _DSC6758 _DSC6759 _DSC6763 _DSC6764 _DSC6766 _DSC6767 _DSC6769 _DSC6770 _DSC6776 _DSC6794
