Another uneventful day

So I'm writing to all you fans out there because Mag is nagging me about having not written anything in a long time since our first blog entry. So what in the world did we do today? Hmmm...

Well, first of all, Mag and I got our lazy assess out of bed. After taking a while to get ready, Mag finally got dressed and left for work. I on the other hand went straight to work and began another day of XML/XSL web development. Whoohoo!!! Let me tell you all about it. NOT!

Having coded for a good solid morning, I decided that I had enough of working from home and suggested to Mag's parents that we all head to the public library near Mag's office to hang out. My suggestion was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. But first, we had to eat lunch so back I went to the office while Mag's mom prepared a yummiliscious bowl of wontons that we had made the night before (you can read more about it on Mag's dad's blog).

After lunch, Mag's parents and I got into our new old MDX and headed to the library. On the way there, we stopped by QFC (Quality Food Center) and opened a BofA (Bank of America) checking and savings account for Mag's parents. The lady helping us open the account miscounted our initial deposit and almost made off with $100 bucks! I wish I had that kind of job.

Once we got our new ATM cards, we continued on to the Bellevue library upon which we immediately went to apply for new library cards. We were notified by the friendly library staff that as a resident, I am able to check out 100 items at a time but Mag's parents could only check out 10 items at a time. It's a great policy except for the fact that I can give Mag's parents my library card and they can check out 100 items at a time through the self check-out counter. I wonder if our homeland security is run off of the same principals.

After getting our cards, I set up shop and went straight back to work. I'm that kind of guy. Never let a good library book get in the way of work. Mag's parents went exploring and after about 90 minutes, came back with 10 DVDs. Most were Chinese and looked to be about 10 to 15 years old. We have seven days to finish them all so don't bother trying to reach us over the next few evenings. We will be glued to the TV watching old Chinese movies!

Once the clock hit 5:00p, we left for Bellevue Square Mall to meet Mag. She had to return some bridesmaid dresses and Peter (Mag's dad) wanted to get a coffee machine. We searched through the mall and finally found a great deal on a coffee press machine at Crate and Barrel. Now all we need is a coffee bean grinder. If not, there's going to be a lot of chopping going on.

Once we finished shopping, we headed over to Toy Cafe on Main Street in Bellevue for some Taiwanese/Cantonese food. I won't go into the details of the dishes here because I'm sure you don't care. Needless to say, the food was good...our bellies were filled...and we paid promptly so we could head for Target!

Why Target you ask? Well let me tell you. The weather was 87F this afternoon and Mag insisted that we go buy fans for the house before a real heat wave hits and all the fans get sold out. This happened to us once in California and it obviously left a deep impression on Mag. Talk about your paranoid-heat-exhaustion-induced-craziness! So we bought a couple of fans, some personal beauty products and floor mats and headed home.

And as luck would have it, both fans suck...and I don't mean they blow in reverse. They just suck compared to our awesome and perfect Holmes Blizzard fan that we bought three years ago. We packed both fans back up for a return at Target and went online and ordered our favorite fan from Amazon.com. We love our fan so much that we ordered three more. TAKE THAT HEAT WAVE!!! Whose your daddy now?!?!

I can't believe you are still reading this. Someone has way too much time on their hands.

So the fan fiasco was over and I went back to work while Mag and her Dad did some major editing on his blog. The edits were really well done and Mag once again proved her innate ability to do web design and learn HTML coding on the spot. I think I might have to hire her for my next project.

And that pretty much brings us up-to-date on current affairs. I'm now sitting in the office writing this blog for all you out there to read. Talk about talking too much and having nothing to say. Maybe Seinfeld should have hired me as a writer. I find my style to possess a certain dry humor quality that only a mother could love.

Well...Mag is getting cranky so its time to put down my fingers and call it a night. If you really have nothing better to do, read this entry again and again.

Until the next posting...

Mag's parents arrive in Seattle

Mag's parents (Peter and Teresa) arrived today from Singapore. It has been over a year since we last saw them and two years since their last visit to the US. After picking them up, we first stopped by Ranch 99 to buy some groceries and then went home to cook a quick lunch. Mag prepared some really yummy dishes which we gobbled up clean.

Afterwards, all four of us drove to Pike's Market and spent the afternoon taking in the sights and buying flowers and cheesecake! The weather was perfect: sunny and not too hot. After Pike's Market, we drove to the International District for more grocery shopping at Viet Wah before heading home.

When we got back, everyone but Will took a short nap during which Emil came over to help with dinner. We made another quick, yet delicious meal, watched a few episodes of Planet Earth and then we tried to bake our very first banana bread. While the bread was baking, we quickly tried the assortment of cheesecake that we bought at Pike's Market. It was really moist and delicately sweetened. After another episode of Planet Earth, the bread was done. While the bread was real tasty, it turned out to be a bit on the doughy side. We'll have to try another recipe for our next attempt.
