Last day in Beijing

My parents had a prior engagement that day so we parted ways and it was just us 3 spending our third and last day in Beijing. It was also Will’s birthday(!) and he chose to visit the Temple of Heaven, located on the southern end of the city.  The Temple of Heaven is 3 times larger than the Forbidden City. It  is not only the largest group of temple buildings in China but also the largest heaven-worshipping architecture in the world. The emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties came to this temple to worship heaven and pray for good harvests.

On our way out of the temple, we walked through a park where many locals were just enjoying the day, hanging out, playing cards, kicking shuttlecock (Chinese hacky sack), singing and dancing!

Now that Will got what he wanted for his birthday, we spent the afternoon at a mall :) and met up with Jeanne once more before heading for the airport.
